Training and other things.

Well last week was a quiet week of training, I rode 6 hrs total. My legs were shot and every time I rode I couldn't breath, it felt like I had 1 lung. I go to a doctors tomorrow to see what is up with me, hopefully everything is ok. Ever since the TT in VOS I have been going down hill with the sickness. Being sick makes everything hard, I hate it. The weather has been weird lately, to bad I don't ski or snowboard or else I would be shredding it (not really I suck). I am working at Guthrie's in Sugarhouse, it is nice, all I do is build bikes, I don't help customers or repair bikes, just build. We have people that are on the floor to help customers and we have a guy that does the repairs and I build the bikes, yeah.

VOS race

What a race, hard, hot and FAST. The first day went pretty good, I ended up getting 3rd place, 24 seconds off of 1st. The TT course was pretty windy and hard. During the TT my heart rate averaged was 193 and my max was 198. The 2nd day I DNF. This road race was the hardest one I have done, it was sooo windy and fast. Guys were shooting off the back the first half lap. I got a cold a week before VOS and started taking some medicine and it helped I started to feel better before the race. I was still a little sick for the TT and the really hard effort I did made my cold worse over night and so I wasn't feeling good for the road race. Some how I always get sick before this race.
Congrats to Nate Page for his 3rd overall.

VOS

VOS is almost here and I am getting excited about it. I didn't do it last year because of the knee injury but this year almost the same deal happened but I was able to do somethings right away to heal it faster. I have been riding the Trek TTX alot, the position is starting to feel really good and powerful, lets just hope the rider is. My training has been off the hook the month of January and so far February, I have been doing about 20+hrs a week, trying to get ready for this race. I am racing for Canyon Bicycles and I might work there to after VOS. Mike Hanseen is a pretty cool guy and he is always super nice. I am getting tired of all of these flat rides I really can't wait until the canyons are clear and warmer to ride up. I have Emigration to keep me sane for now.

Work

Well downtown Guthrie Bicycles has closed there doors for good a couple of days ago. The building has sold. I have been there for about 2 1/2 years and it was the best job out there. Very cool guys to work with. I will miss the dart playing, playstation racing and rubber band wars.

Tendinitis.

Well I got tedinitisin knee again. Last year I got it in Febuary and had to take 3 weeks off the bike, everytime I would try to ride it would hurt about 20 minutes into my ride last year. its in a different spot so hopefully it isn't going to last as long. I have been icing it and taking ibuprofen and I wear a brace for it so hopefully that helps it fast and i can start training hard soon. I am suppose to be going to Mesquite next week for a week and I am hoping that the knee is better before then.

Food before the ride.

Here is breakfast before my ride. I like oatmeal and coffee. I don't eat breakfast much, even before a ride. I will eat a Cliff Bar before riding sometimes. I need to fix that. I am going to Mesquite in a couple of weeks to train for a week down there before heading to Las Vegas for the Southern Nevada Stage Race. It is crazy racing is almost here again, I am really looking forward to racing again and testing out the TT bike. My Birthday is Saturday the big 22 that is crazy to say that number I don't know why it just is. My dads is the same day and he will be 44. It is crazy how fast the year goes.

Sickness and the Holiday.

I got a freakin' cold, I haven't had a cold this bad in a while, it sucks, zap, zero energy, my whole body hurts. I want to ride the bike but can't get the energy to get ready, also can't get in the mindset to ride outside in the cold. Is it ok to ride if you have a cold? will I lose fitness if I don't ride? can I go to the gym? these are questions that I ask myself all day. Any advise to help get this cold to go away faster will help. I rode with Mike Sohm thursday morning and it was 14 degrees out, my breath froze my hair by my neck. Mike and I sat at Raw Bean and had some coffee to warm us up, we stayed there for 20 minutes before we left to go home. Mike is a really cool guy to ride with, he is a funny kid. Yesterday at work I thought it was going to be a busy day because it is the last day to shop before christmas. NO it was dead. We partied all day, alot of people showed up and it was fun.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

TT, Ride, Lift...

I got my new TT bike and it is sweeeeet! I got it dialed in and ready to ride. Yesterday was a freakin' sweet day to ride, I rode in the morning and at like 8am it was 60 degrees out, I put in 4 1/2 in the morning then another 1 hour of power cranks in the evening. Got up this morning at 5 a.m. to go to the gym, why? I don't know, it is kind of nice with not that many people there. Work is still WAY slow, hopefully with the holiday rollin' around it will start to pick up.

TT Bike.

I ordered up a new TT frame yesterday. It is a Trek TTX 9.9, 110 oclv carbon frame triple x lite fork and triple x lite seat post. I have all the parts to build up a bike from my last tt bike. The other tt bike that I hade was a Trek Equinox 7 but it had 650c wheels and those don't work as well as 700c. I am way excited to get this frame because it is there top of the line frame, but it costs like 2800$ for frame and fork oohhhh. All I need to get is a set of wheels and that can wait.

Things.

Well winter is here, snow, cold temps..., which also means trainer. I really don't like the trainer but it has to be ridden. I have been riding the trainer a couple times a week. Also riding my coach's veletron 2-3 times a week. I have been working on power cranks and sprints for the last 2 months, what a workout. I have been going to the gym for just over a month now and I kind of like it. It is sometimes intimidating because alot of those guys are HUGE and then there's me 5' 6" 135lbs... yeah you get the picture.

Well time for the trainer.

Thanksgiving Day

I had a good Thanksgiving, I had some good food, but no pie (to many calories). I did a thanksgiving morning ride with Jeff Louder and Terry Mcginnis, we went out for about 3hrs. The clouds were looking scary, we had a STRONG south wind, so we decided to go south, head wind first good tail wind back. NO that is not how it went, the wind changed and we had head winds both ways DOH! and it got cold. We didn't get hit by any storms which is good.

Moab

I went to moab on Monday morning to ride and it was AWESOME!, I think that was my 2nd time being to moab my whole life (21yrs) crazy huh?. Monday I did a ride into Arches National Park and that was cool, seeing all of the tall rocks and arches. It was like 70 degrees when I rode and it was nice. Then today I did a easy ride into Potash wich is a flat ride. You ride next to the Colorado River and next to these HUGE cliffs that people rock climb on. I put alot of time on the saddle the last 3 days, I did like 11hrs. The weather has been so nice I am trying to do as much riding as I can while it is nice. I came back from moab today it was just an over nighter, and it was kind of a bummer to come back to colder weather.

See Ya

Good Days.

Today was a good day of riding, it was warm and not much of a wind. I got out in the morning for 3hrs with my brothers wrestling coach. On the way back from NSL I saw Nate Page and road with him for a while, He's a cool person to ride with. then a couple of hours after my ride I went to the coach's house and did some sprint work. I actually like the sprint work that I am doing, i am seeing improvment everytime I go, which is motivation. Well my weight is now down to 135lbs and I was 150lbs during racing this year. I think I am going to hold that weight for the winter and next year. Work has really slowed down and it is boring. Alot of the time we play playstation and throw darts. We do have lots of bikes to build, that will keep us busy through the winter. It is a bummer I have to work on saturdays and I would rather be riding my bike, especially when it is nice out and I could do 6hrs.
Laters all.

The South

So I went to virgin this last weekend, it was awesome. I got alot of training in, I think like 10 hrs in 2 days. That ride in to Mesquite is pretty cool, it seems like the climb goes on forever. The new bike feels good, it responds well. I used a SRM while I was down there and those things are really cool to use. I did some bunny hunting, got one. It is hard when they are running and you are trying to shoot them with shotguns. I think that Zions is the coolest place to go, It is fun to ride the bikes up there.
Well more boring news later.

Bikes.

I got a new bike last week and it is sweeeet. It is a Trek Madone 5.9 SL. I am selling my cannondale which is a bummer, I really like that bike. I have done about 4 rides on the trek and so far it rides like a dream. It is an all carbon frame with full Dura Ace 10 spd, and Bontrager race x lite wheels. It weights in at 16 sweet lbs. So throw some tubulars on there and we are looking at 15.5 or less lbs, yaaaaaaaaa. I am drinking some coffee right now, and eating some yogurt, and it is good.
see ya.

Coffee and Yogurt.

Coffee is soooo good, I can drink it all morning. I can also eat yogurt with granola all day everyday. There is this coffee shop called Raw Bean, it is a great place, I go there every morning before work and get a coffee or tea, and a yogurt with granola. So who ever reads this, no one probably does, go to Raw Bean at 600 S. West Temple, and say what up to all my friends.

I raced all 3 series last week and won 2 out of 3 not bad. Then this week I raced and last 3 laps at RMR before getting dropped. I think I am done with the series, I think I will race Royal street only. I still have LOTOJA and the State Championship Hillclimb, I don't know how I will do, I would really like to win. I am feeling burntout and I have been sick for about 3 weeeks now, I think I am going to do some MT. biking. I really can't wait until October when I get to take a month off YEAH! it will be great. I need to lose 15 lbs of anyone can give me some advise how, I would like to be at 130lbs for next year.

We'll more later.

Catching Up

I haven't written for a while I have been lazy. I have been drinking alot of coffee lately at this new coffee shop called Raw Bean 600 South West Temple. If you haven't tried it yet you should it is awesome stuff. Work has been off the wall crazy lots of repairs with not alot of employees. LOTOJA is comming up I am getting excited for it. What a hard race 206 miles 9 hrs WOW nuts. Training has been good I did 100 miles today a lap around the valley including climbing Butterfield. What a cool climb way hard and it is steep it goes up fast. About halfway through you hit a 20% Gradient and it hurts BAD my arms get sore from pulling so hard on the bars. It is good training for lotoja and Sanpete wich I think I am going to do.

Thats it for now more later.

High Uintas

What a tough weekend, the road race was tough couldn't get the legs going attacked a couple of times to try to get away and get the legs to open up but nothing. So when the climb came Chocolate Factory went to the front and layed it down they set a hard pace and dropped everyone. 10 of us regrouped on the downhill and we stayed away to the finish line and finished about 50 seconds ahead of the field. The next morning was the TT and I was feeling better I got a really good warm up for it and I borrowed a Cervelo P3 for the TT and I ended winning by 5 seconds over Sandy so I was excited and that also put me in the lead. So going into the Criterium I had a 6 second lead over Jesse so I sat on his wheel the whole crit and I didn't notice that the guy in 4th got away and he was 36 seconds down and so at the end he won the crit and pulled into 2nd. So I ended up winning the G.C. by 5 second over Chocolate Factory and 6 seconds over Jesse. What a crazy weekend.
